To those, I always advise waiting, because if they need to ask how to back up their computer, they clearly don't have the technical knowledge which is required to deal with the possible problems.
You're quite right that everyone will be wary, and I assure you from the private messages I received on the topic before upgrading myself, that many still are! Some are so fearful of it that they ask how to best backup their entire system so they can revert back if things go belly up. This does not apply to some people in the last update debacle, who entrusted Microsoft as in previous downloads, and ended up burnt through no fault of their own. I expect everyone will be wary of 1809, but only if you have been trying to acquire 1809 via other routes rather than the official ones. By them making it available to those insiders, thousands of more people install it and report back with any problems they encounter. Think of Microsoft's Insiders program as an extended beta release (even though it's not). When 1809 was first released by Microsoft, it was an "Insiders" release - in other words, a release only for those who decided they wanted to try the "latest and greatest" as soon as it passed the beta stage. Those new features are not super impressive, so for most regular users, they are things that they could either live without or likely not even need or bother using anyway.
The purpose of my writing that article giving a detailed account of upgrading to 1809 was more for those who wanted to upgrade sooner, rather than later, to take advantage of some of the new features included in the 1809 build. The answer is very easy fosseway - you wouldn't If I had got a version lesser than 1803, why would I want to try your method, which you admit you had some problems with? If like me (I am currently sitting on Win10 Home Version 1803), and others will also be waiting for the update from Windows, which they have stated they will send to everyone dependant on how Microsoft reads your set up and capability to do it without a hitch.
